MESH Networking – Uh Oh, they are still alive!
The venerable Linksys WRT54G routers still seem to have a viable function in the MESH networking world. For MESH, we can only run the BBHN firmware, version 3.1, and for now, this remains compatible with the AREDN system.
For the most part these boxes are suitable for demonstration purposes, and maybe for setting up a local MESH network at an event, or to serve a large facility in case of emergency/disaster. The photo shows a stack of 9 of these bad boys fully configured and ready to go.
