February General Membership Meeting

All,

Excitement is high as we continue the move to the new facility on Raspberry Road.  There is a lot of news to report at our next general membership meeting to be held at the normal Carr Gottstein Building on the APU campus, Friday February 2 at 7PM.  This is expected to be our last meeting at this location, and the last Friday meeting as we migrate to the first Thursday of the month in March.

An update by the Building Committee will walk you through the status of the move, how the facility will slowly but steadily spring to life, and what our requirements are with the State of Alaska to upgrade the building.

In addition, we will show a fundraising presentation, a short but hopefully engaging presentation about amateur radio’s place in the modern era as well as historical and present activities in our state.  Comments  will be welcome as we enter a new era.

There has been movement on that front as well as we get the word out.  We have a fundraising activity with our first auction.  It is a beaver hat, see the KL7AA home page for a link.

Opportunity abounds for volunteering in many areas.  The list of items that could be pursued is long, including the Amateur Radio Emergency Service, radio astronomy, EME, digital repeaters, emergency power, upgraded satellite system, multi multi contest site, and the STEM education initiative to help keep membership active and engaged just to name a few.

The new club vision statement should help guide us, it is:

An inclusive community of engaged, trained, and prepared emergency communication volunteers

See you Friday evening, if not this weekend during the big move!
